A little bit of update

Wow. I really haven't been around here for a while.

To quickly recap, I am done with my undergraduate degree (graduated in 2016, a few years behind schedule), and I am wrapping up my first year as a PhD student on a campus that's pretty much right next to the undergrad institution. I lack in imagination. Or something. Because all I did was move north.

After some waffling with psychology, I ended up high-tailing back to neurobiology, and I think that's where my home lab will be. I just like brains, but I find most of cognitive/behavioural and psychology just a bunch of hokum. I'm sure it's useful, and I myself have reaped its benefits, but just because your grandmother's magical medicine works doesn't mean it's scientific.

Anyway.

After much moping and whining and feeling secluded, I finally gave up trying to perpetuate the glorious isolation schtick of Great Britain and decided to give in to the comfort of just having an opposite gender to talk to. Me being me, I'm finding problems when it really shouldn't bother me, but I rawk at finding problems and perpetually trying to improve them, so go figure. But he does listen to reason and he didn't scream at me, so two points for Gryffindor! I really am not setting the bars too highly, I suppose. I also have no idea how I managed to grab his interest. The world is filled with mysteries. It's odd, because as much as I find MBTI a bunch of pseudoscience, I do find its classification rather informative (if 4 letters can tell you the minutiae of that person's general quirks, I'm going to find the information density high), and he happened to be the same type as me. Considering the likelihood, I won't say this is a miracle but it's not very likely.

I am still in touch with my friends from undergrad, namely Claire and Connor. Claire actually lives a mile away from me at the moment.

Now I have to finish the presentation. Why did everything have to be due on Wednesday?
